Our Missions

 


The Service for Science and Technology (SST) at the French Embassy in India ensures the promotion of cutting edge scientific cooperation between scientists, research institutions, laboratories and universities in India and France. It facilitates the mobility of Indian and French scientists, supports Indo-French scientific research teams and laboratories and serves as an intermediary between the two scientific communities.


The service also monitors scientific and technological advancements in France and India and disseminates information on the same.


France is at the forefront of scientific research and its research bodies are continuously producing new and innovative research. Common areas of interest between France and India in scientific research are (but not limited to) nanotechnologies, biotechnology, sustainable development and climate change, medical research, chemistry and life sciences and space research. France and India enjoy close collaboration in these fields. A number of joint structures, projects and networks between leading scientific research institutes have been set up as well.


The Service for Science and Technology works closely with all the major research institutions in France and with the other wings of the Embassy in order to best promote French research within the Indian scientific community.


As part of the worldwide network of French science and technology services, the SST in India monitors developments and offers information on scientific advancement in India.

Spotlight

  • ICM 2010...The French mathematicians are supported by the Comité National Français des Mathématiciens (CNFM), la Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), the Société Mathématique de France (SMF) and the CNRS

  • ICM 2010 ...France is traditionally well represented at the ICM, more so after the 1990s.This year, the French delegation, second only to the American, has 4 plenary speakers, and 22 invited speakers. Out of the 48 Fields Medals, 9 have been awarded to French mathematicians.

  • ICM 2010 The European delegation counts 76 mathematicians, from 15 countries: Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Austria, Finland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic and Hungary.

  • ICM 2010...During ICM 2010, two to four Fields medals will be awarded, the Nevanlinna Prize in theoretical computer science, the Gauss Prize for applied mathermatics and for the first time, the Chern Prize.

Microbes in Wastewater and Waste Treatment, Bioremediation and Energy Production - MWT - Jan 24-27 2011, BITS Pilani GOA. 1st announcement - call for proposals.

This conference is being organized within the framework of the IWA’s specialized groups Microbial Ecology and Water Engineering (MEWE) and Assessment and Control of Hazardous Substances in Water (ACHSW). It aims to bring together researchers, scientists and professionals working in the field of microbes and microbial ecology. The conference, to be held in Goa, will provide a platform for the participants to share new approaches, knowledge and findings on Earth’s tiniest creatures which are the major drivers of pollution removal.
