The Science and Technology Service of the French Embassy in India has launched a programme to develop and strengthen scientific cooperation between French research institutions and universities and the Indian science community.

This programme enables highly qualified, early-stage researchers from India, who are working towards a PhD or already hold doctorates to carry out research projects of their own choice in France.

Applications may be submitted for long-term research stays of 6 to 8 months for Sandwich PhD fellowships and 3 to 6 months for Post-doctoral fellowships. These research scholarships are offered on a competitive basis.

Important criteria for selection are the quality and feasibility of the research proposal and the applicant's publications to date. Applicants must choose their own research projects and identify their own French hosts/institutes. Details of the research project and the time-schedule must be agreed upon and finalised with the prospective host before applying for the fellowship.

To date, a number of successful research projects have been completed with the support of these fellowships.

Call for applications for 2011 will be announced in due course.  Please keep checking this website for up to date information.
