Research in Paris supports researchers from abroad to come and work in Parisian laboratories. This scheme aims to further enhance the appeal of Paris’ scientific side by fostering exchanges on a global scale and researchers’ mobility.

It plays a pivotal part in ensuring that Parisian Research flourishes and it enables laboratories and research centres to develop and strengthen cooperation programmes with research centres in major international cities.This scheme aims to further enhance the appeal of Paris’ scientific side by fostering exchanges on a global scale and researchers’ mobility.Research in Paris supports researchers from abroad to come and work in Parisian laboratories.

Around 70 grants will be awarded in 2010. 

Postdoctoral researchers are granted €2,500 per month over a period varying from 3 to 12 months.Senior researchers are granted €3,000 per month over a period varying from 2 to 6 months . The expenses of return travel between the home country and France are covered on a fixed price basis depending on the location of the home country and receipts of the amount paid. The costs of researcher’s health insurance are also covered by the programme. Researchers can benefit from administrative help and assistance in finding accommodation. Accommodation may be proposed to the researcher. It is however his/her responsibility to pay for the rent.


Deadline for applications: before midnight on 8 March 2010.

  • ICM 2010...The French mathematicians are supported by the Comité National Français des Mathématiciens (CNFM), la Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI), the Société Mathématique de France (SMF) and the CNRS

  • ICM 2010 ...France is traditionally well represented at the ICM, more so after the 1990s.This year, the French delegation, second only to the American, has 4 plenary speakers, and 22 invited speakers. Out of the 48 Fields Medals, 9 have been awarded to French mathematicians.

  • ICM 2010 The European delegation counts 76 mathematicians, from 15 countries: Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Austria, Finland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic and Hungary.

  • ICM 2010...During ICM 2010, two to four Fields medals will be awarded, the Nevanlinna Prize in theoretical computer science, the Gauss Prize for applied mathermatics and for the first time, the Chern Prize.
